Two important initial points:
1) Letters of inquiry and pre-screening are not used by the foundation. This application is the appropriate first step in submitting
a grant request.
2) The foundation's administrative staff is happy to help with technical questions about
the application process but is unable to provide guidance on the fit of the grantee or the structure of the request. We are not able to make judgments on the suitability of your organization or your appeal. Please review the guidelines and use those to guide your decision on whether or not to apply and what request to submit.
After reviewing the Guidelines and FAQs, you can access the Application Form. For detailed, step-by-step instructions, see the Application Instructions PDF.
Important Update: We have transitioned to a new grant application system. As part of this update, all users must create a new account and submit their application using the new application form. Both the old and new systems will remain open during a transition period; however, all applicants must switch to the new system by August 24, 2025. After this date, the old application will no longer be accepted.
If you previously started and/or submitted an application using the old system, you can still view & download those applications in your existing account using your old login, but only until the deadline. Any new or in-progress submissions should now be completed using the new account and application.
Important Uploading Considerations: (1) No macros or oversized documents! Do NOT upload PDFs that have JavaScripts or macros attached (e.g. auto-printing, preview, etc.)! Also, do NOT upload oversized documents [Letter size (8.5” x 11”) works best as a maximum]. These issues will create problems with the processing of your application. (2) PDF format is preferred. While most Microsoft office documents are also acceptable, there are document extensions which our system cannot upload properly [such as “-.pages“, “-.pub” and “-.sheet”, among others]. You can avoid problems if you convert to PDF format before uploading. (3) Please preview the formatting of your budgets before uploading! Make sure your documents are well-formatted and will look how you want us to see them. Our system will attempt to convert your uploads into PDF format if you have not already done so. If you aren't paying attention to the layout of your document, the outcome can be unsightly and not at all what you are hoping to present to the board. If you would like tips on formatting your budgets, we highly recommend you see our short Budget Prep Guide. Print preview is your friend!
If you encounter problems accessing the online application form, and the FAQs page does not help you resolve them, you may send an email to Foundation Services with your technical questions. The Directors tend to meet on a quarterly basis. You will be informed when the board has made a determination regarding your request. The confirmation email you received at the time of submission should have an expected response date. Occasionally, meetings get moved and requests must be deferred, so this date should only be considered an estimate.
